February 3, 2010 at 2:20 pmHi Randy I have a quick question if I don’t want my text to have that flat beveled look when I extrude it, so should I loft the splines to give it more of a tube or puffier look?

February 3, 2010 at 2:37 pmIt really depends on the font and the look you want. The extrude nurbs have some nice clean beveling options in the caps tab (for beveling you almost always need to enable the “constrain” option) However IF your font allows it using a sweep nurbs with your text can give nice results. Make sure they are in the correct order. Should look like this:
Sweep Nurbs
-Shape (square, circle ect.)
-TextThis will however give you two sided letters so you will have to work on your spline a bit. There is a actually a tutorial about just this at the c4d cafe. I have not seen it but 3D Kiwi is very good and does not skip a step in his tutorials. The tutorial is free but you need to sign up for it… its well worth the time there are loads of excellent tutorials.
