    P2 offload newbee here….

I downloaded P2 Formatter, P2DrivePowerManagement, P2CMS programs and am trying to offload some HD/SD footage off Panasonic HVX200AP camera’s P2 card.

The camera is connected, (1394 is connected says the cam msg) and I initialized the P2CMS program but I get this msg: A database file does not exist.

I cannot open much in P2CMS toolbar, not even help…

Next I get the Create Databse msg: Volume suggestions and then INPUT DATABASE NAME….what do I input there?

I am doing this without any editing software, just wanting to offload clips and move them onto hard drive while I shop around for editing program.

    Thx in advance…

The software is a bit wonky.
First, create a folder on our comp. where the files are going.
When P2CMS asks for a input folder name, type anything, it doesn’t matter, it wants to create its own folder.
Then, you can choose the drop down, on the left, and select the P2 Card mounted. You must see the P2 card mounted on the comp. b/4 u can off-load it.
When you get to copy, select the destination folder you created.

Let me suggest ShotPut Pro from Imagine Products to offload (BACKUP) your P2 cards. After shooting with P2 cards, these backups will become your Tape Masters.

The trick with P2cms is to ignore the ingest button.
Once you have created a new database, just load your p2 cards,
Select which clips to import,go file export and follow the prompts.
