P2 with FCS 3
We’ve got a remote edit shortly in which we’ll need to work with the P2 format. I don’t have any experience with it so am in need of some help.
Planning on renting some kind of P2 drive, I need it to work on an iMac through FW or USB. We will probably be shooting SD but that is not certain yet.
Does this sound realistic? Any other advice will be helpful. Are there any drivers/codecs, etc that I need to load into FCP to make it work.

Watch this tutorial to get you started:
You will need some device in the field to offload the cards. Powerbook G4, P2 Gear, MacBook Pro with Duel adapter (but no Snow Leopard)…Pc with PCMCIA slot.
Also look into https://www.imagineproducts.com. Shotput Pro automates the offload process.

Thanks Shane, great tutorial. I have used Log and Transfer before for AVCHD, works great.
Now my main question is which device would I be likely to find as a rental that would go into an

You are going to bring an iMac with you to offload the P2 cards? On set or something?
AG-HPG10 or G20…the “P2 Gear.” Or AJ-PCD10 P2 5-slot Reader most likely.

Do you mean just for offload or are there issues with FCP and Snow Leopard. I use the AJ-PCD20 for offload now. And with FW 800, she’s pretty fast. I’m on FCS 2 with an Intel Xeon and am about to upgrade to a Intel Nahelam with Snow Leopard (yeah new machine). I hope there aren’t any issues with FCS 2 or 3 and P2. We pretty much only use P2. Can you clarify what you meant by No Snow Leopard?

Issues with the DUEL ADAPTER and SL. There is no support for it, and it doesn’t work.
