I am transferring footage onto two different computers with Final Cut Pro 6 shot on Panasonic HVX-200 in 1080i 24p with Red Rock 35mm adapter and film lenses.

One computer is taking the material in at 1080i60 while the other computer is taking the material in at 1080p30. Neither match the original camera settings, resulting in strobing/distorted image. I am unable to get either system to transfer the footage into the original 1080i 24p that the cameral was originally set to. Can anyone shed some light?

If you shot at 1080/24P and not 1080/24PA, then FCP is importing them correctly, at 60i/30P. I don’t know why one would be 60i and the other 30P, but it would make sense that neither would be 24P.

In this case, I would use Cinema Tools to remove the 3:2 pulldown. If I were you, I would first check to see if both the 60i files and the 30P files have a standard 3:2 pulldown.

The 60i material lets me do a cinema tools pulldown, converting the footage to 24fps, while the 30p material only lets me do an advanced pulldown removal, converting the footage to 23.98fps. The footage also plays really warped in 30p/23.98fps. Any movement within the footage glitches. The 60i/24fps material strobes less and I’ve chosen to go ahead and edit the project under those settings.

However, I’m very curious as to why the material could be coming in different on the two different systems?

I have heard that the HVX-200 experiences compression problems when shooting 1080. Could this be the cause?
