P2 Store ingest burps
folks,
Have been trying P2 Store to Mac (G5 2Gz Dual, 8 GIG RAM, OS 10.4.8, Avid MC Soft 2.6.6) and rarely am successful. Let me explain. 1st tried dragging from P2 Store to properly configured file/folder structure on one of the RAID volumes mounted on my desktop. Usually the Finder ‘Copy’ window would open, but zero KB would be transferred, and the Finder would hang, forcing me to ‘Force Quit’. Hard crash. Dang. Plugged into the front USB port w/ High Speed 2.0 cable 4′ long. Just downloaded latest drivers from Panasonic.
Was suggested that I drag to internal drive inside CPU, THEN drag to a RAID. This is more successful… I’d say 65% of the time.
This is a REALLY tweeky way to do this. Should be a ‘drag and drop’ operation, but I’m biting my nails with each ingest! Are other Mac/P2 Store/Avid folk doing this daily w/no issues? What can I change in this methodology?

buy P2 Genie (www.p2genie.com) for $33 and have it do this for you automatically. It is fast and reliable.
