P2 Store
I have been working with the P2-Store using a MacBook Pro to copy P2 files from the P2 Store to external hard-drives.
I have recently been using it on a multi-camera shoot that had multiple P2 Stores.
usually it works great however occassionally (enough to be annoying and spooky) the computer is unable to find the first card that was shot and loaded onto the P2 Store. I have found there are two “solutions” to dealing with this
1. eject and remount the P2 volumes again and again until the computer finds that lost (first loaded) card
2. Shoot a few seconds on another card and add it to the “pile” in the P2 Store – often this will allow it to find the lost (first loaded) card.
Neither “solution” is acceptable.
3. A third solution is to shoot something on the first card loaded (a few seconds of whatever/ nothing) so that if the computer cannot find the card it won’t matter because it’s whatever/ nothing. However this takes up a full partion in the P2 Store so you will lose a full card’s worth of space on the P2 Store.
All of the above are band-aid solutions. The real question is why is this happening and how does one prevent it?
I mentioned the multiple P2 Stores (I’ve used 5 at one point) and they have all had this problem. So I’m thinking its the MacBook Pro???????
Any thoughts?
Thanks
