P2 spanned
Hey everyone. Im importing some p2 cards and having a little bit of trouble. The footage was shot at 720p. Im collecting P2’s from several cameras, and they all say the files are spanned and incomplete. I assume this means because the takes are so long the footage is passing to the other p2s. One of the cameras P2s will not import. The footage shows in the log and transfer window, but errors when I try to add it to the queue. I simply copied the content folders onto the drive and figured Id deal with it later. I have yet to figure out how to rip those files! Any suggestions? I can get four cards to collect in the browser and the collapse into just a few large files, but still no luck.

If you load all of the footage from the shoot in the log and transfer window, FCP should be able to join all the clips.

OK, it sounded like the Calibrated software was the way to go. I have purchased, downloaded and installed, but I can’t see to figure out how to get started with it.
Where is it. Is it in FCP or a seperate App.Thanks for letting me show once again that I am not the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

Well, you should have a ‘Calibrated’ folder in your applications. Setup your preferences for what it needs to do. Then you simply drag in the files from the ‘VIdeo’ folder from FCP and Calibrated will automatically bring in the audio and make it one clip inside FCP. Then edit as normal.

Installing Calibrated didn’t solve the problem.
I have several very long clips from a lecture/demonstration.
They all say Spanned or Incomplete.
When I bring them into the log and transfer window, I can drag through the entire clip (42 minutes) in the window on the right side. But I can’t get them to import. I get the little red stop sign icon.
If I go into the contents folder and drag the MXF file onto the timeline I get a part of the clip onto the timeline, not the complete clip.
I am at a loss for what to do next.I have a critical shoot coming up next week that will be the same sort of long lecture/demo and I don’t want to go through this again, any suggestions would greatly appreciated.

What kind of scratch drive do you have and how is it formatted?
