  • P2 Source Timecode Output ?

Posted by James Mortner on July 29, 2008 at 3:19 pm

    Hello everyone ,

I have imported a load of P2 rushes into FCP and laid them out on a timeline. All well and good, the files are DVCPro HD with embedded TC. This can be read fine and dandy.

My question is: When laying off the material, is there a way to force FCP to output the original embedded source TC rather than the timeline regenerated TC ? Rather weird I know, the client is still editing and may update their EDL without warning.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks in advance
    James

Can you do this with ANY format? I never heard of doing this. You can’t output clip timecode to tape in this manner. With any format.

Right, not with FCP at any rate. You can do that in an online bay or with some other NLE’s — we used to make selects reels that way.

Thanks everyone for your input. I thought I was going mad for a minute.

One more though. What does everyone do when trying to conform MXF files ? Just hold all the media on a RAID and do an off/online in one go ?How do you “conform” it afterwards if theres no master TC ot tapes ? Any ideas and/or sites would be great.

    Thanks again and take care
