P2 remove pulldown
I have what it might be a basic P2 question.
In another forum i posted an issue where my clips in the browser under VID RATE read 23.98fps but when i open the QT in the viewer the timecode goes til 29. An answer to that possible issue was:“….24fps material can be “carried” in 30fps video if 3:2 pulldown is
used. That may be what’s going on in your case: the
material was shot in 24fps and recorded as 30fps (or, more
accurately, 60 fields/sec) with some fields intentionally
repeated”So, here comes the P2 question: i’m pretty sure that was the case, so what to do to prevent that? When we import the clips into FCP we checked the box that says “Remove advance pulldown and duplicate frames” under Importing P2. Is there anything else that needed to be done?, if that’s the only thing to do, why do we have that problem? Does it really matter in the final output (35mm) that the vid rate says one number and the TC another? i would pretty much think so.
i’m pretty lost and confused on what’s happening here, any help would do.
thanks
