P2 On-The-Shoot Workflow
We will be doing a shoot this upcoming monday with the Panasonic HVX200 with 4GB P2 Media. Our client wants to try the camera, so we will be renting it w/o ever having used it. The project will be edited on Final Cut.
It is my job to make sure we archive the footage, and have it backed up during the shoot. The workflow that i’ve been told works well is…
P2 Card> Mac Laptop> Create Disc Image of P2 Card> Back up to FireWire
The big hurdle here is that I don’t get much time to test this workflow, the camera will arrive that morning of the shoot.
This project will not be edited on this laptop, so I will not import to final cut directly there.
I guess my two burning questions are, Is making a disc image of a P2 card really just as easy as going to disk utility?.. and, What drivers & updates must I have installed on this PowerBook to be sure it will recognize the P2 card after it’s inserted?
Thanks!
