    Hi all,

We just got some footage back from a field shoot shot on the HVX-200 in 720p24. When previewing the footage in the Log and Transfer window, everything’s peachy. When I add it to the queue and ingest, two things happen. 1- I get a half moon icon next to the clip, indicating only half the clip was ingested. It’s not a spanned clip, it’s whole. 2- The audio is wildly out of sync for the first 20 seconds, then drops off entirely. Guess that’s what wasn’t captured? When I preview the ingested file in Quicktime, same thing. Audio is FUBAR.

What’s interesting is that if I import the MXF files into After FX CS4 or Premier CS4, it thinks they’re 29.97 files, they play in sync, no problems whatsoever. But FCP sees them as 23.98 files. My cameraman swears up and down it was recorded in 23.98. The footage that was recorded on the HPX-500 is fine, and comes in at 23.98, it’s the HVX footage that’s the problem.

    Machine specs are:
    OSX 10.5.6
10GB RAM, Quad core 3GHz machine
    FCP 6.0.5
    QT 7.6.0
    CS4 Production Premium Suite
Noise Industries IS on here, but it’s been updated recently. I’ve ingested other footage shot on the HPX and haven’t had any issues as well as some HVX stuff (all 720p24pn).

We’ve tried ingesting this on other machines in the house with similar specs and versioned software, same results. Putting some like Raylight, etc, isn’t terribly feasible given the amount of edit machines we have.

Has anyone seen something like this before? HVX issue? Other things I should try?

I’m prepared to bring them into After FX and export them as QT to keep the sound in sync. I don’t see a way to change the frame rate in FCP if that is indeed what the issue is (footage shot at 720p30 but not being recognized as such).

    Thoughts? Argh.

    Thanks,
    Nicole

in the P2 Import window…in the P2 Browser, there is a little sprocket drop down menu. Click on that and choose PREFERENCES. Uncheck REMOVE PULLDOWN and then try importing again.

    Muchos nachos.

The secondary camera operator made an offhand comment while we were scratching our heads over this- “Oh, we recorded in the one without the N”, which is a format we have NEVER EVER SHOT IN.
The main operator said it was PN. Everyone know where their right hands are? How about lefts?

At least Tuesday has been interesting.

Hi Shane, I am having the same issue. When I import the footage without the box checked, everything is fine with the audio, but it changes the timebase of my sequence to 59.94 when I drag it in. This is a problem because the other footage I have is native 24p. Is there a way to work around this? (I have recorded external audio)
