I have done three days work on this. Here’s what i’ve found. I have a G4 laptop with 6.0.1 and QT 7.3 on it. It sees and imports P2’s flawlessly – like many times before.

I have 54 P2 folders on my G5 with 6.0.2 and QT 7.3 on it and it will see and mount only ONE of them out of 54.

I can go back to 6.0 but then i’d have to do an xml export/import which i’ve always found a bit tricky.

Some people are not experiencing this at all. Some are doing a zap pram remove Qmaster and all sorts of voodoo and it seems to work for some. I’ve heard it said, if it’s a “bug” then it would be happening with everyone. Not true! Many hardware configs. Many software configs. Something is wrong period.

Is it a Panasonic thing or an Apple thing? Well, it’s a shared situation since they have decided to market the P2 workflow as “possibly replacing tape”

    Where are the brainiacs here?

OK>..it is obviously a bug. I said it couldn’t have been on the Apple forums, but it is happening to far more people than not.

And the fact that it worked fine with FCP 6.0.1, then not in 6.0.2, puts this squarely on Apple’s shoulders. Panasonic hasn’t changed a thing in over a year.

    Shane,

I wasn’t snipping at you. I am just so frustrated. I have Sent FCP reports, System Profiler reports, uninstalled Qmaster, etc. Even tried to go back to QT 7.2 which i find requires a severely complex script which I don’t have the savvy to do.

You have always been a great help and a huge assett to the video and specifically the HD P2 community always. I meant no disrespect aimed at you. Your tutorial on how to even get my G4 to read a P2 was great! Please don’t take it personally. I jumped to 6.02 basically way before I ever do, specifically for the Dupe Sequence, lost render problem. Lesson learned.

The reason I dragged Panasonic into this is, it would seem that it would be in their best interest to get their engineers working with Apple’s to solve this “vaporish bug”

    Thanks for your help,

    Peter Sassi

Oh, no offense was taken. I didn’t realize that it was as widespread as it was. Easily 90% of the people are having problems…and 10% aren’t. I am one of the lucky ones…well, after I did a LOT of smacking the computer.

So it seems like a bad update…this and the new SNAPPING behaviors (why did they change this?) don’t make the 720p DF timelines really worth it. Especially since I am working 23.98 and that will NEVER be a DF frame rate.
