My first questions is what version of Final Cut are you using? The most recent version, I think it’s 5.1.4, has P2 operability. Once your MXF files are on the hard drive- go to File> Import> Panasonic P2. Locate your MXF files and continue the import process. This will import the files as Quicktimes which are viewable and editable within Final Cut.

    I hope this helps.

You would need to do a P2 Organize on the Firestore prior to import. Did you do that? Also you didn’t record both MXF and QT at the same time right? So how did you do both? Or did you mean that you did some one way and some the other way?

    Thanks,

    To Shane:
What do you use to create the Mac onscreen footage like that in the tutorial mentioned above?

    To others:
I’m trying to do a drive recovery for some P2 footage (please be kind, I’m a computer and audio guy, but not a film guy). I’ve managed to get ALL of the MXF (both audio and video) files and folders as well as the BMP Clips. I could NOT retrieve the XML files. Is there Mac software that can recreate the missing XML wrapper files when all the other files are present and named correctly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

P2 Log Pro from Imagine Software should be able to do exactly that.
