    hi all,

im new to here, and will likely be shooting and editing with the HVX200 next week.

i read thru multiple forums and still cant get an answer to this, and i have no hardware to do the test myself, so to post this question here.

am running fcp 5.0.4 and understood the import function from P2/Firestore in FCP.

however after import the files, what will fcp convert them to what sort of QT format?

is it a QT with DVCPRO HD codec or a mxf codec?

these QT files will also be send to elsewhere which asking for QT DVCPRO HD format.

so i need to ensure when i import these clips i need fcp to either transcode or be able to convert them to qt dvcpro hd, so i can send these qt out to other edit suite.

appreciate with any help or suggestion.

    cheers
    cohen

The MXF files are imported and wrapped in a quicktime wrapper in the DVCPRO HD codec. They can be read on any mac wth the DVCPRO HD codec. Going to a PC will be probelmatic, as PCs do not have the DVCPRO HD codec.

    thank you shane.

this answered my all time concern.

second problem come up. not sure if this is the right place to ask, but i’ll give this a go 🙂

am living in the PAL area, which currently only allows me to use the PAL HVX200.

with the latest P2log, i understand that footages shot in 720p50 can be imported to Final Cut Pro.

however i will need to send these ‘quicktime’ files to a production house which is dealing with this ongoing project at 720p60 (we shot at varicam 720p60 before). i.e. they only accept 720p60 qt files.

will the p2log software actually convert the 720p50 files to 60 when importing to the Mac? or i will need to put these files in fcp and render/export these out to 720p60 qt files?

or i actually wont be able to do it?

    cheers.

Go to http://www.nattress.com and download the demo for the Standards Converter, and watch his explaination on how to use it. Use it on your footage to test it…see if using this to convert it to NTSC then exporting will work.

There is a workaround how to edit 720p50 in FCP 5.

You can find on article here:

    https://www.aulich-adamski.de/en/perm/720p50-capturing-editing-in-final-cut-pro

The second one for the HVX200 is currently only in german but there
are many screenshots and a step-by-step description so you might
    get an idea:
