My 2nd shooter used his Panny 150 with a P2 card to capture video. He provided me with a portable mac HD with the MXF file structure from the nights recording. The structure on the hard drive is CONTENTS: AUDIO/CLIP/ICON/PROXY/VIDEO/VOICE.

I used MacDrive (mediaFour.com) software to read the drive on my PC. Imported the contents to my HD. Now I want to import the video files into Vegas. I have checked off Options/Prefs/General/ import MXF as multichannel box.

Vegas Pro 10e cannot import any footage. Any idea how to import this material?

This is one area where Panasonic and Sony don’t talk to each other 🙁
You have to have Raylight Ultra ($200) to be able to work with P2 files in Vegas.

    You’re welcome Scott.
The P2 issue has been a thorn in the side of Vegas users for a very long time, especially since NLEs like Premiere Pro can import the files with no additional plugin needed.

I think raylight has a playback only plug in for $49.

Just to piggy back on the topic, I tried a demo of Raylight the other day with P2 footage and it converted it, but Vegas crashed immediately when I put the footage on my timeline. I tried it two or three times and gave up.

Vegas Pro is a video editing software package for non-linear editing systems (NLE) originally published by Sonic Foundry, now owned and run by Sony Creative Software. As you know, unfortunately it still is. For whatever reason, Sony and Panasonic still refuse to play nicely together.

The best editable format of Vegas is MPEG-2. I advice you convert P2 MXF to MPEG-2 and import the video to Vegas for freely editing.

Do you have recorded some 1080 60p, 50p AVCHD videos? How to get them to edit with iMovie?
