    Hi,

I am just wonder if “P2 Movie” export is rewraper or re-compressor. Is it re-encoding or it only wrap it in MXF container?

I have some footage captured with HVX200 directly to FireStore FS100 recorder as QT DVCPro HD 720p50 file but Adobe Premier on PC do not want to read that codec somehow. Then I try to use Media Encoder CS4 on Mac to export the video as P2 Movie and it was nicely accepted by PC PPro with native behaviour on DVCPRO HD timelime.

I am just concern if I will loose quality doing that or it is just re-wrap from QT (.mov) to P2 (.mxf) format?

    thank you in advance,
    Andrei B.

I am not sure if you are losing quality using that work around. If it turns out that you do, you may want to check DVFilm Decoder. It will enable you to open QT dvcprohd files in PPro.

    Hope this is helpful,

Dave thank you for your input!

Yes, RayLight decoder was first thing we were trying and it works fine but we are small production team and can not afford to invest more. We are just trying to use what ever is available for now and Media Encoder doing his work just good. My only concern is if that kind of conversion is destructive or lossless (re-wrap or re-encode).
