P2 Log and Transfer

I’m running FCP 6.0.1
New imac 24″, 2.93 Core 2 Duo, 4gb ram
External drive is formatted Mac standard(on a PC) and is a WD (WDC WD10 EACS-07D6B0 Media) USB2I am getting errors when I try and Transfer the P2 data from the drive to FCP.
The P2 cards were transfered to a PC in the field via Panasonic P2 Content Manager, then copied to 2 backup drives.
Here is what I get in the Log and Transfer window: Hover over the error and it says “error unknown”:
Here are my Audio/Video settings:
Here are the files that are NOT being Transfered sorted by size!
Curious, is this a Mac standard formatting problem?

USB 2 may not be allowing enough data throughput on your Mac for Log and Capture to function properly.
When you say formatted on PC, do you mean a Windows OS?

Yes, they were formatted on a windows PC using a mac disk formatting utility.
Any thoughts on the mac standard formatting?
I thought USB 2.0 was usable if not the best solution. We have It on a FireWire drive too, will test tomorrow.

New info:

Mac OS Standard Format Specifications
Before discussing hard drive block allocation, and the intricacies of determining allocation block sizes and such, let’s first review the Macintosh Standard format, sometimes called HFS.Below are some specifications and associated terminology used to describe the Macintosh Standard format structure.
The maximum file size is 2 GB.
The maximum number of files on a volume is 65,536.
The maximum number of files in a folder is 32,767.
The maximum size of the data fork in a file is 2 GB.
The maximum size of the resource fork in a file is 16 megabytes. -
You should reformat the drive (which will erase it) to MacOS Extended and do this on a mac, not a PC.
You should also not use USB2 for a media drive, but at least firewire 800, if not eSata or faster.

Just in case someone else looks: to wrap this up…
So we reformatted the drives on my MBP then plugged them into the original Windows machine to recopy the footage.
All has worked fine so far back on my imac EXCEPT I had some issues with the FW800 drive and transferring a 6.1 gb spanned file. I moved the clips to my internal and had no problem although FCP now saw the clips as separate clips and not 1 spanned clip.

Reformatted to what format? If you reformatted fat32, then you are hitting the 4GB file size limit.

No we formatted Mac Extended Journaled.
No limit correct. My assumption is the Drive was too slow for FCP to transfer the large file.
Am I wrong?

Not on a Mac. If you need to write over 4GBs from a PC, though, you will need something called MacDrive for your windows machine.
