When I use P2 Log to copy media from the card and import into FCP using XML, the media comes in distorted (squeezed horizontally) when seen in the Viewer and it doesn’t conform to the sequence when placed in it. The P2 imported material seems to have a CCIR601 pixel aspect ratio, while material imported directly into FCP from the card has an HD (960×720) pixel aspect ratio. We’re shooting 720p30n. Even if you set the import to override with XML content and manually set the import settings to DVCPRO HD 720p30 it still comes in wrong.

Also, though the material is set to reconnect on import it doesn’t, and it has to be reconnected manually. This also produces a file error, mismatch in media start and end and reel name. What’s that about?

Any guidance in what’s causing these problems and what can be done to fix them would be much appreciated.

    Thanks very much.

    All the best,

    Tom

A further issue with P2 Log seems to be if that if you give multiple user clip names the same name than in the XML file P2 Log generates all the files with the same user clip name are linked to the same media file, disregarding the unique Panasonic clip name of the QT file itself.
