P2 link issue in MC
when I edit P2 footage, I use ‘Import P2 clips to bin’. It works ok and I suppose it’s not really an import, but rather a link to my P2 footage. However, when I shot down Avid all material goes off-line. Next time I open Avid I have to import all material again. I make a temp bin. When all is imported once again, all bins go on-line and I can dump my temp bin, so my footage does not exist in several bins. I am getting real tired of doing this work around every time I open Avid. Any help is much appreciated.
I’m running Avid MC 8.3 on a MacBook. Had the same issue on MC 5.5, which I used earlier.

After linking, consolidate the footage. this will make it Avid managed media, which won’t lose its links.

Consolidating is probably the best way. I must have been away on other NLEs too long having forgotten how much Avid needs to be in control of all footage. Just thought that AMA link would be the new standard in Avid editing even when using P2 footage.
