  P2 import window in FCP – no preview

  Having a problem previewing P2 footage stored on an external drive.

  I’m running FCP 5.1.4 and have a SCSI raid and an external FW800 HD to store my P2 footage to.
  In the preview window, all the thumbnails of footage is shown and all the footage stored on the RAID can be previewed.

  The footage stored on my WD ext. HD can’t be previewed. The thumbnails are there and you can import the footage and then play it, but it can’t be previewed in the P2 import window.

  Does anyone have any ideas why this is so? I thought for sure the FW800 would be fast enough for a couple streams of HD not to mentioin just an import preview.

  I’m shooting 720p24pn. The ext. HD is a Western Digital My Book Pro w/triple interface 500GB.
  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
