  • P2 Import to FCP 5.1.2 ERRORS

Posted by Rustyrik on October 10, 2006 at 3:30 am

Had to leave town for a shoot over the weekend, but started this thread last week…no solution at this point.

Just upgraded to 5.1.2 and I cannot import all of my p2 clips correctly. Clips under 12 seconds do not capture and are flagged with a red exclamation point (ERROR: No Data).

The clips play fine in the new import window, but will not finish the capture and become QT files. I normally would simply “Import p2”, pick the content folder, then import all of the clips without any problems. PLEASE HELP…deadline is approaching and the idea of having to go back to 5.1.1 does not interest me.

    Thanks,
    Rik

This is for a different problem, but perhaps it will help you:

I will try the reinstall/trash prefs route and let you know.

I trashed FCP and the receipts, plug-ins etc. Installed FCPO 5.1, updated to 5.1.2 and have the same problem. Any other suggestions?

    HELP!

Are you using the same clips over and over? have you shot new material and tired that (under 12 seconds of course)? maybe these clips are corrupt. Do you have them in their original mxf structure (with lastclip.txt). If so, try copying them back to card, load in the camera and see if the camera can read/repair them?

thanks for the help Jeremy, but no, I’m using different clips all the time. I have also determined that the duration may not be a factor as some of the clips are up to 28sec. long. Also, I can take these same clips and have no problem capturing on the 5.1.1 systems. I do have the original CONTENT folders and Lastclip.txt files as well.

Okay, so the media is fine. What kind of computer are you working with where this is a problem?

Have you checked the permissions on the hard drive the clips reside on? Get info on the folder that stores the clips. On the bottom of the info window twirl down the ownership and permissions and make sure all options are set for read and write and the you click the ‘apply to enclosed items’ button. What kind of hard drive are the clips stored on?

One is the last g4 Powerbook made, 17″ 1.67 with high-res display and 1.5gb ram. The other is a G5 Dual-Core 2.3GHz with 4Gb Ram. Both are running the latest Tiger and are completely up to date with software update.

I’ll check the permissions. They are currently on a new LaCie Rugged 120gb HD.

So you are saying that this same problem is happening on two machines with FCP 5.1.2? And you are using the same external hard drive on both machines?

Sorry to ask all these questions, just trying to narrow down/rule out hardware/software/problems.
