P2 Import into FCP missing files!
So I have this project working in Standard Def off of HVX P2 cards.
The cards have been trasnfered to a hard drive and I’m properly using the LOG AND TRANSFER in FCP.
However, I’ve noticed that while the files loud in the Log and Transfer window, when I look in the Video Folder under Contents, there are more MXF files there, than what the Log and Transfer window is showing me.
For example.
I add custom path, choose CAM 1 Card 1> and it loads 5 clips into the Log and Transfer window.
They import fine. But, when I double check the CAM 1 Card 1>Contents>Video folder, i see 7 MXF files.can anyone tell me whats going on here?
Now, I’m working with a LOT of footage, 3 days worth on 3 cameras, each with half a dozen cards used.

P2 cards are formatted FAT32, so they have a 4GB limit. So when you record LONG takes, the cards break up the takes into multiple parts. So while you might have 4 clips, FCP sees them as one continuous clip and joins them together. You might see in the L&T interface that some of the clips say SPANNED. Those are clips that are grouped. Some might span from one card to the next.
This is normal.

I was in your same shoes when I first got footage from the camera. But the workflow was VERY rough back then too. I was kinda stressed about that as well.
