Activity Forums Avid Media Composer P2 import

  • Posted by Brian Wessel on July 24, 2010 at 6:49 pm

Im trying to finish a project that I edited on Avid 3.5. I just upgraded to Avid 5. The footage was all shot on the P2. When I load the project, all the footage is offline and it will not relink. This was actually a reoccuring issue that I fixed simply by reloading the p2 footage in a new bin and everything then relinks. I have about 11 folders of p2 footage. However, now when I try to bring it in, a couple of the folders don’t fully import. Instead, I get a bunch of masterclips that are called “FS Default Clip Name 20031103…”.

All I need to do is export the timeline, but I have many clips that are offline at the moment. The relink option is not helpful either.

    Please help!

    Thanks,

    Brian

If all your clips are in one bin, go File – Link to AMA – and choose Top Bin from the dialogue box.

If they’re not, what i tend to do is select the highest level possible on your drive and then link them all to one bin, making a load of new clips. While making these new clips it should also relink all the existing ones. Then just trash the new bin.
