P2 HD HVX200A-Avid Problems?
So I have a project to edit that is being shot on the P2 HD HVX200A. I just found out that we are going to edit on an Avid which suits me a it has been my tool for a decade or more. However I have been getting some very negative feedback regarding the P2 HD/ Avid compatibility. Frankly I don’t really have the time to get on the Final Cut bandwagon at this point anyway. Bad I know, I know. So are there particular pitfalls, issues. Should the there be a particular format shot. Codec acquisition? Any information I can get at this point will be very helpful. I really don’t want my edit to be ruined by technical minutia. It is a good project and I want to really give my all creatively. Any help or tips I could get guys….thank you.

I use Avid w/P2 and probably can help you but one last question first:
-are you software only or what hardware do you have?

The Avid P2 workflow is far easier than the FCP one. Avid works with MXF files natively. Simply use Avid AMA to access the card, then consolidate the clips. Or use the Clips to Bin option. Very easy.
