P2 glitches in multi-cam free run files
on a recent 2 camera HVX shoot:
periodically in our raw DVCproHD .MOV files created by final cut’s P2 import feature, there’s a frame with some big boxy digital dropout looking things. however, the dropouts aren’t blank, they are filled in with video from the other camera. obviously, this is physically impossible that they were recorded on the P2 cards this way. we’ve discovered that the filled in part comes from the same free run time code frame on the other camera. its not just in the timeline, but on the original MOV video file created by final cut (i’m assuming it’s happening during the import from the P2 MXF file). we’ve not had any glitches on record run single camera shoots.
any ideas on the cause of this? any ideas on how to avoid this? we like using the multi-cam feature in final cut, but we’re hesitant to use it, or free run on the cameras.
