  • P2 files play in Transfer window but won’t import

Posted by Steve Hobbs on January 19, 2011 at 11:21 am

Having a problem with P2 files not importing. There are several P2s from same cards that will import but 3 files refuse to cooperate. They will play in Transfer window but will not import. Using FCP 7.0.3, tried it on 3 FCP systems. P2s reside on a G-RAID 4TB and a portion on the files can not be copied to another drive (getting error code 36: “The finder cannot complete the operation because some of the data in could not be read or written”). Any ideas on how to get these files imported/repaired? Thanks.

Did you use P2CMS to original transfer the content off the card onto a hard drive? With verify?

Perhaps there’s a permissions error on the files.

Try opening in p2CMS and see if they work there.

Tried it in P2CMS and the files in question do not play. If fact they crashed P2CMS. A corrupt file I guess.
But since it shows in Transfer window is it possible to fix?

Do you have the original card structure and a camera? I’d try loading the material back on to a p2 card and repairing them in camera.
