Help…. I downloaded a P2 folder onto a hard drive and tried to import the folder into Final Cut. Every time I try and open it Final Cut shuts down. I can open the card I shot before and after the card that is not opening. I have tried to open the Content Folder from the original hard drive and from the back-up drive. The folder will just not come into Final Cut. And YES the original files from the card were erased. This has never happened before. Any help would be great. I NEED this footage.

    First try trashing your prefs.

Do you have FXFactory installed? If so, update to the latest version

Do you have Perian installed? If so, remove it via the sys prefs.

    DO you have P2CMS?

Also, check the file name. What is the name of the folder that holds the P2 folder? make sure there’s no weird characters in the name. Try renaming it to something shorter and without any punctuation.

First try trashing your prefs. Tried that didn’t work out.

Do you have FXFactory installed? Don’t have FXFactory

Do you have Perian installed? If so, remove it via the sys prefs. Don’t have Perian.

DO you have P2CMS? Nope. That might be a good idea though.

Thanks for helping out. I have never had trouble opening up a folder that I have downloaded from The camera yet. Final Cut is just not liking this folder.

The folder name is “Contents” (which is what the P2 names the folder). I never change that folder name. I make another folder when I Import from the camera. I also tried renaming the folder from North_2 to North2. So there was no funny characters.

Okay. So you have a folder named North2 (underscores are okay, by the way) and inside that folder you have a folder named “CONTENTS” all caps and a last clip.txt file, right?

Inside the CONTENTS folder you should have AUDIO, CLIP, ICON, PROXY, VIDEO and VOICE.

    Correct?

Then you should have files within the AUDIO, VIDEO, CLIP and ICON folders.

    Correct?

If so, get info on the CONTENTS folder and tell me how big it is.

There is info in every folder as well.

Sorry for all the questions, but what is the name of the drive that the media is sitting on and is it formatted MacOS Extended?

Have you downloaded P2CMS to see if the files can play there yet?

[Anthony Wilhelms] “I’m not sure if I have the drivers that I need to install it. Still trying to get it straight. “

JUst install it as long as you have the P2 drivers, you should be fine:
