I have an issue with ingesting a few P2 clips into FCP. I’ve been able to import several P2 clips no problem, but a few of them are giving us issues. The problem is that these very relevant clips are crashing his FCP 5.1.4. I first tried the clip repair feature that P2 Log Pro software offers (Imagine Products). Once repaired, we tired re-ingesting into FCP and to no avail. The same thing happened.

Why do some import and some not?

BTW, I can visually see these clips in the P2 Log Pro and all the related data. Just can’t import them to FCP. Strange.

If you have P2 Log Pro, you can use that to “import” the files, then take all that XML stuff P2 Log creates and FCP will read that just fine. Unless the clips really are corrupted for some reason. One of the draw backs to tapeless, you’re suspetable to the same “data corruption” issues as all other computer equipment.

But if you import with P2 Log, what it creates should be readable by FCP just fine.
