  • P2 cards not recgnised by FCP6, despite Finder recognising them

    Hi all,

So, I have a bunch of 720p 25pn footage. Two 16GB P2 cards, in an HVX200. Said camera is connected to an Intel dual core 2.8ghz iMac w/4GB RAM, running OSX 10.4.11

The two P2 cards are showing up in Finder as ‘No Name’ drives, as per usual.

I open up FCP 6.0.4, create a new project, and save. Then I open the ‘log and transfer’ window.

    Here’s where things get weird.

It used to be that all of the footage would appear automatically, I’d name it etc. and then transfer it all.

But today for some reason it’s not recognising the cards. So I manually select the cards, and still FCP won’t show me the footage. I copied the cards across into folders on an external HDD and tried to select those, but no luck either.

I know the footage is fine because I’ve watched it on the camera, as well as using P2CMS.

I clicked the preferences tab thing and looked, and I noticed that there was no mention of DVCPro HD codecs, just AVC-Intra and AVCHD being transfered to Apple ProRes 422. Could this be the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DO you have FXFactory installed? Demo or full version? That intereferes with P2 import. Either remove it (uninstall) or update it to version 2.0.1.

…what Shane says, and copy the footage off of the cards on to your hard drive before doing the log and transfer.

Thanks guys, I do, and as soon as I find the ‘uninstall button’ it’s gone.

Anyone know how to get rid of the bloody app? I’ve looked through help files and can’t see anything about unistalling, so I used AppZapper, restarted, and still FCP won’t pickup the cards….

    What did I miss?

Open up the actual Application for FX Factory and under the “Action” menu it looks like there is an “Uninstall…” option
