    I’m working with a client who wants to capture some really long captures (to the limit of FCP’s ability to do live capture) and use a P2 card to “cover” the “drive swap”. This would be 720p60.
    Yes, it would take up a lot of space, we know and we’re prepared.

    Is this possible? If you’re capturing out the firewire port is the P2 card live, also? Or do you have to switch modes?

    This isn’t really covered in the manual and it’s a pretty unique situation.

    Yes- you can always record the firewire output directly to an NLE like FCP whether the P2 is also running or not. But it’s not needed if you have enough P2 cards- you can always hot swap the one that is not being recorded onto.
