November 12, 2009 at 4:06 pmThanks John. That’s very useful to know.
After troubleshooting for three days straight, we’ve determined we’re dealing with bad blocks on the drive. I think our best solution will be to do what you’ve suggested.
Could you walk me through the process in Windows to repair the MXF files?

In a word, nope. I don’t know the first thing about Windows. Someone else did it and gave the files to me, I have no idea what they did or how they did it.
I suggest just finding someone who is familiar enough with Windows OS and asking them to help you with repairing files or restoring or whatever. I think he might have said he used the MSDOS shell to do this but I have no idea for sure. Sorry, but from here I can be of no help.

January 24, 2011 at 5:01 pmI was having similar issues importing from Card reader (also attempted from the hd backup as well). The files would play in transfer window using fcp import p2 from both sources-card reader and hd backup. But a handful of clips would sshow as transferring, but would not show in the logging bin when complete.
In capture scratch they showed the clip name plus #FFFFF (0KB). ex. 0278OI-octane xcu logo#FFFFFFFF.
I tried repairing clips, and the card reader says “no repair clips” suggesting that they dont need repair..Solved-but looking for an explanation if there is one:
After some desperation, I right click the questionable clips in the FCP transfer window and reverted to “original metadata” and its allowing me to import them. Does anyone have an explanation for this?
As always thanks, Dixon

Your filename is too long. Try a shorter custom clip name and everything should be fine.
