    Hello Creative Cow World,

I’m a first time poster (and fairly new reader) of creative cow so I’m hoping that some genius out there can solve my problem.

This is my first time using P2 cards and I’m having problems. I’m importing P2 files (which I have saved on to a raid hard drive, and yes I copied both the contents and the last clip text) by clicking file/import/panasonic P2, but instead of getting a nice window asking me where I want to import from I get a blank window (which does allow me to adjust it’s internal windows) which is named “RAD Ingest.” What the hell does that mean? further more I can’t close this window with out closing FCP, though there is no need to force quite the application. Do I need an additional driver from Panasonic?

    I’m using a G5 with 1.5 Gigs of RAM, OSX 10.4.9 and FCP 5.14. The project is 1080 60i compression at 24p (23.9)

    HELP ME PLEASE!,

Sounds like something isn’t installed right.

You should get a window that opens whose name is “Panasonic P2 Import” across the top of it. it resembles a log and capture window. You don’t see this?

I have seen this issue before…RAD INGEST. Try tossing your preferences using FCP Rescue. Then try importing.

And make sure that the CONTENTS folder is named exactly that, not CONTENTS #1, or CONTENTS A or something like that.

i’ve also seen problems trying to import off of a Raid – but when i moved the media to a local drive had no problems. now i use the raid for the quicktime and mxf backups, but actually log and transfer off a local drive.
