is there anyway to make clips in my previous sequences work? I tried copy/past stuff from earlier sequences into this new seq but comes in weird. i guess i can always check timecodes of in and out and bring the clips again into the new sequence

Once you get the new clips copy and pasted in t the sequence, select-all (command-a) and then right click and choose Remove Attributes…

You will then see a dialog come up and choose basic motion and distort. You will have to redo any moves or motion control you did on the clips, if any.
