Hi again. Sorry for the delay. Footage was shot in HD on the HVX200 using p2 cards. The old footage was shot in the same format, the only differences being the size of the cards (4g for old, 32g for new), and the computers used during filming. The first time around it was a G4 running Final Cut 5.0.4, and we needed to use a p2 card reader to dump the cards. The new footage was dumped on a newer mac that has a p2 card slot. I don’t know what version of Final Cut they were running.

Also, when I received the old footage it already had capture scratch files, and I was able to import them as using “import – folders.” This time, there were no capture scratch files, and I was only able to import the files using the Panasonic p2 option.

I’m editing on a G5, running Leopard, and Final Cut 5.0.4.

Please let me know if there is other info that would be helpful. Thanks again for your help.

Is there a question in there somewhere?

Hi. Sorry about that, I was picking up an earlier thread, and forgot to include the original problem.
The new footage requires rendering when dragged into the timeline. I’ve checked my settings, and everything seems to match.

Sam, you should continue your old thread instead of starting a new one on the same topic.

Either your clips don’t match your timeline, or your timeline doesn’t match your clips.

In the browser, look at the clips and tell me what it says for codec, audio and if it’s anamorphic or not.

Then do the same for your sequence by opening your sequence and hitting command-0.

Hi. So the three items you mentioned are the same, but the clips have a Vid Rate of 59.94 fps, while my editing timebase is 23.98 fps. Could that be the problem?

    That’s exactly it.

What can I do to fix it?

Wasd the footage shot 59.94 or was it shot 24p with pulldown?

Step through one of your new clips frame by frame. Do you see three repeating frames then 2 repeating frames or do you see 60 discreet frames per second?

    Three repeating, then two repeating.

Good, so at least your footage is shot 24p.

What version of FCP did you say you have?

    5.0.4
