When shooting with an HVX200 and P2 cards…
If I have one card in the camera and take one long take, filling up the entire card, then import that clip into FCP, everything is fine, one long clip shows up in the import window, but if I have two cards and, again, one long take filling up both cards, when I import into FCP my clips are broken up into 00:12:22:12 segments and the say “Incomplete” just like when you switch over to the other card, but the “Incomplete” is after every clip, with no media end timecode. Same is true for the second card. Now, I should have on the 1st card, one clip (incomplete) not three, the same should be true with the second, too. When I view the clips in camera, I am only shown one clip running the total time shot. It does it with two different HVX’s and four different 16 and 8GB P2 cards on two different computers. I am using the P2 Store as a disc drive. It happened on FCP 5 and 6. Even happens if I copy the contents of the card to the P2 Store 1st. Is this a common thing? I need this fixed! Thanks!

    Easy fix.

Both P2 volumes have to be loaded into Log and Transfer at the same time. I don’t use the p2 store but what I have read each p2 card will come up as a separate p2 volume on the desktop. So in Log and Transfer when you mount both volumes of P2a and P2b the clip will be joined together. The same would be true if you transfer the content folder and lastclip of each p2 to a separate folders on a hard drive then did the import, both volumes have to be opened.

Check out Shane Ross’s tutorial on P2 workflow it is a great help.
