    Hello

I just recently bought a used HVX. It’s in good shape and I’m happy. However, it only came with a 8gb card and I really need, at the very least, one more 8gb card. But can’t afford it at the moment.

However, One thing that DID come with the camera is a Cardbus adapter. Exact specifications are as follows:

    Delkin Devices Cardbus Adapter
    Cardbus 32 5 in 1
    DD5-IN-1-CB

Here is a picture i found of my exact card: https://reefphoto.com/images/delkin/del.cb5.jpg

here is a newer version of it on the delkin site: https://www.delkin.com/shop/product.php?productid=72&cat=59&page=1

    So getting at my question:

As you probably know, these cards are shaped just like a p2 card… they fit everywhere a p2 card fits only different is you put something else in it like an SD card.

Do you guys think its safe to buy 4 or 8 GB SD cards (Which are much cheaper) and put it in this adapter and then put the adapter in my HVX?

I have a 1 GB SD card ready to test but i’m kind of scared.

    any opinions or suggestions?

I don’t know how the device reader in the camera will treat them, but at a guess you would need to use SDHC cards rather than standard SD cards to achieve the best write speeds. The new SDHC cards have a claimed write speed of 20MB/s although they are only officially rated at a class 4 speed (sustained 4MB/s).
DV 25 and DV 50 might be OK, don’t know about sustaining HD 100 though. Maths is one thing, actuality is another.

    Hello Noah,

I chased up the Fuji p2 card and one 32gig is being delivered with-in next two days, I’ll report as soon as I give it a whirl, Price was a couple hundred Aussie dollars cheaper than the Pana 32 gig card.
In my situation with five slots and a big percentage of my work is long form every dollar on cards saved is important.
I’ll dump my 4 x 8gig on ebay and buy more 32’s as time passes.

    cheers
