How do I deal with this:
    Video: Panasonic DVCPRO HD @ 24p (720)

    I specified 29.97 but the cameraman didn’t (????)

I would prefer to finish this piece in After Effects 7.0 @ 720p / 29.97

I can’t seem to get a handle on my work flow.

    Any help? Anybody? Thanks!

24p actually gets saved at 60i, which is 29.97 interlaced.
You have to choose to remove pulldown in your editing app, FCP for example.
So if you can import the footage from MXF format into FCP without removing pulldown, you’ll have 29.97 interlaced. This is what movies look like — those that were shot on film but converted to video.

    Does that help?

Yo there Steve, thanks for speedy reply!

Yes, this makes sense as being what I need to do, but exactly how do I do this?

Material is being (dumped to &) delivered on a regular firewire drive.

Teach me to fish and I can feed myself forever.

    Thanks
    Kenny

You might want to check out the Final Cut Pro COW forum for that one.

It should also be covered in the FCP help, or the “what’s new” docs that come with FCP. At any rate, check the FCP COW. Key words would be “P2”, “Final Cut Pro” and “pulldown”, I suppose.
