    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has been cutting projects in Avid Express Pro, 1080 24p full resolution?

I am beginning post on an indie film. Shot on HVX200, 24p 1080…P2 cards loaded onto firewire drives.

I did a test between Avid v5.6.1 (which I normally use) and FCP v5.1.2. The picture quality seemed quite inferior and stuttered on full res, when running it through Avid Express. But on the same computer with FCP, the picture looked great with no stutter. Is this because of the way the files are transformed into mov files? Or am I missing something in my test?

    My system is G5 quad 2.5, 4.5 ram, 2 burley enclosures (x5) with 10 500g Seagates and Caldigi card, 20″ & 23″ cinema displays.

When the project is completed, I would like to take a copy of my project and my drives to a post house and have it put directly to D5 as a master.

Also… in FCP, it imported as DVCPro 1080, then reverse telecine to get the 3:2 pulldown, and making the sequence 24p project. Is there a similar process in Avid? It only seems to recognize it as 1080i?

I appreciate any insight into this new world.

    Thanks,
    Randy
