I am a complete idiot who somehow ended up with some of the most important footage I’ve ever shot on my computer without txt files from P2 cards. I was hoping I could re-construct the file or use a diffferent editing system to capture them as Q-times? I am using FCP5.1.2 – if anyone can help I would be super grateful!!!

Please someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that .txt file is used to link a clip that was split over 2 different p2 cards when on fills up and switches to the next. You can manually splice them back together in editing. I made the mistake of not transferring that file many times when I first used the system and it doesn’t seem to affect it other than what I described above. I haven’t had any problems importing or capturing the footage without it. Anyone else?

The LASTCLIP.TXT isn’t necessary to import the CONTENTS folder properly. Rick is right, it is there to tie any footage that carries over from one card to the next. I have test imported footage without this file and they import fine.
