  • Overwriting footage without loosing effects

I’m embarrassed to even ask this but it’s late and I’m frustrated.

I just want to replace a shot at the opening of a sequence. There is a fade effect at the start of the clip and a dissolve to the next shot at the end. When I overwrite the new footage, the transitions go away.

Is there any way to replace the footage without changing anything else in the sequence. I should just add the transitions back in and be done, but that wouldn’t be learning!

    Thanks, Chris

That’s call “Replace” and you’ll notice that it’s one of the options available when dragging a clip to cut in from the viewer to the canvas. If you can’t figure out how to use it properly check the oneline manual in the Help menu.
