    Hey guys!

I have a overscanned super 8 clip from a job that I would like to make a custom moving mask out of, to use on other super 8 clips that hasn’t had the privilege to be overscanned.

I’m pretty novice when it comes to After Effects, but I thought there must be a simpler way to mask and make an alpha out everything inside the frame then do it frame by frame? Is there anyway to do an inverted key on just the blacks and the sprocket?

I’ve attached a screen grab as a reference:

Would really appreciate some guidance in this matter.

    Cheers,
    Andreas

its just a tree…but okay. The tree branch is the darkest thing in that scene…so you can probably copy the video and up the levels until the branch is solid black and everything else is solid white. then use the luma matte
