over node equivalent
Posted by Alex Torres on March 21, 2008 at 6:44 pmThis might sound kinda dumb but I’m a bit confused. What would be the equivalent of an “Over” node operation in After effects?

Well this might sound equally dumb, but I don’t know exactly what an ‘Over’ node is. I know that it places one image ‘over’ another but I don’t know how it accomplishes this (i.e. specifically what it is doing internally).
If it’s only placing image data over other image data then the equivalent would be placing one layer over another.

March 22, 2008 at 9:44 amI own a book on effects & compositing that is relatively software agnostic, but it is published by Apple and tends toward Shake… I just translate to AE in my head as I go, so I don’t absorb too much about Shake. That said, I downloaded the Shake user manual and looked up the Over node and I was right:
To do the ‘same’ thing in AE you drag one layer above another. However, I feel like I should ask you what it is exactly you are trying to do so I can give you more productive advice.
