In TV shows and documentaries, I have seen where an over exposure type effect is applied as a transition between clips. A few years ago, white flash frames were common but now it seems to be this over exposure as a transition. The frames llok to blow out but must stay within values in the scopes. What’s the best way to accomplish this in Premier CS3? Thanks

I would probably just use a white solid and crossfade between that and the footage. obviously you’d have to use the white solid for only a few frames.. 1-5 frames or so, depending on the effect.

Forgot to mention. You might be able to use a GLOW effect between shots or something, or a dip to white transition if they have it. I’m not sure. I know there’s a dip to black transition.

To get the right effect, I usually just drop the white level input over a few frames at the end of a first clip, and do the opposite on the second clip. Premiere will clip the whites and shouldn’t go over the legal limit. On the chroma side, you can keyframe a saturation effect if you are worried about it going over.

Save both as separate in and out point presets for easy use as transitions.
