    Hi,

I got a short general question regarding work with Final Cut on a Macbook Pro. I am working with a Sony PMW-EX30 which allows to record and pass through HDV Signals through firewire/I-Link, but no HD.
Is the maximum quality I can transfer through firewire HDV?? So does that mean to output any kind of Full HD Material I need to get a video-card like Blackmagic or AJA or can you also transfer HD Signals through a firewire connection??

Thanks for any hints in advance,

    Karim

DVCPRO-HD & HDV are the only 2 I’m aware of that can do
    that without a capture/output card.

It may be possible to do that with XDCAM-HD material on an XDCAM-HD sequence back to the deck though.

Not sure what you are wanting to do here, but I’ll give it a shot. If I don’t answer your question post back with a detailed list of what you are trying to accomplish.

Are you trying to send HD to tape? Monitor? what exactly do you want? You can monitor HDV over firewire but it is downresed to SD in FCP. You cannot monitor any other HD thru FW. If you are trying to go to tape, what deck are you using?
