outputing 32bit avi
Hi guys. Basically, I work with a HDRI sequences and I want to export them as 32bit uncompressed AVIs so that I can do any exposure adjustment into the AVI itself. When I do this and I right-click on the AVI, the properties says “24bit” and not 32bit.
Is there a way to actually export 32bit AVIs from AE? I’m using AE CS3.

Hi I think by 32bit avi they mean “rgb and a” (8+8+8+8) as opposed to rgb (8+8+8). This is not the same as 32 bit floating point accuracy of a file. I know, it’s a bit confusing. Why don’t you just adjust the exposure on the HDRI sequence within AE?

The only way to export a 32bpc composition that I’m aware of is to render to an image sequence that supports 32bpc. My recommendation would be a Photoshop sequence. Note that these files will be take up 4x the space on your hard drive that 8bpc files would.
Also note that we’re talking about 32 bits per channel (bpc), not 32 bits total, which in RGBA is 8 bits per channel.
