    Hi,

I’m having a weird output issue with FCP and my mini dv cam. I have the dv cam turned to VCR, the settings in fcp set to firewire NTSC. Here’s the weird thing, my DV cam recognizes the information coming from FCP, I can see it in the view finder of the camera, and when I move the cursor through the movie advances to those frames– but when I hit play, the movie stays on the frame where I last moved it to. When I record, it only records one frame, not the entire movie.

I think I’m missing a setting somewhere, and I’m not sure where to look. I’ve never had this problem before. I’ve tried “printing to video” and the same thing happens. PLEASE any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to figure this out ASAP!

    thanks,
    Jane

Check View > External Video > All Frames (or Command F12 key command)

Also make sure that your timeline is actually DV25. If it’s another format, DV50, uncompressed or whatever, it will act exactlly the way you describe it and won’t output thru Firewire to a DV format camcorder.
Check the settings for your sequence.

Thanks for this… but how do I check if my timeline is “25DV”. I looked in sequence > settings… but I’m new to FCP and not sure where to find this.
