  • Output to DV through Mojo/Firewire

Hi. I am very new to Avid and so apologize in advance for my ignorance. Sadly, my latest, and most important project, was a disaster. I can not get it to output DV to my deck (DSR 20). All of my other projects output just fine. I had to resort to svideo out – ugg.

I can’t seem to find what is different in this project. With all other previous projects I place the curser at the front of the project in the time line, press record on the deck, and play the timeline – works great. With this project NOTHING – not even w/digital cut – it plays on the timeline but the deck (and I assume mojo) does not recognize the DV signal. I did have 3 DV tapes w/ wierd audio sample rates sent to me for inclusion in this project but i converted them (I think) to the project settings…help:(

Are you saying that the analog outputs have signal, but the DV connection does not?

I’ve found Mojo to be a little touchy with the dv connector. Do you have the deck connected to the firewire port of the mojo, and have you selected DNA rather than OHCI in you deck config?

    Best,

    Dan

Thanks Michael for getting back to me so quickly. I’ve been going over my system trying to figure out what went wrong. But to answer your question, Yes – when we couldn’t get a DV signal through Mojo we hooked up an s cable/audio cable to the mojo and the deck and viola audio/video came through. Oddly enough, I’ve got 3 other projects sitting in the drives and they would output dv…But the good news – after going through all the settings and re-selecting and bla bla bla (and, a new firewire cable) i’ve finally managed to get a dv signal on this project through mojo to the deck. I can only assume that OPP error is the cause of all my woes.

Hey Dan, thanks for your reply. Per your questions I purchased yet another firewire cable and I also reviewed the settings – and NOW it’s working! Weird though. I had other projects still in the system that sent the dv signal through mojo to the deck – just not the one I wanted…How something got changed I just don’t know. But per your suggestions IT WORKS 🙂 I am assuming OPP error is at fault – meaning me…THANK YOU
