    Hi folks

I use AJA Io, G5/Panther, FCP HD. I’m having all sorts of issues laying off to BetaSP. Rolling frames, other files from other projects flash the NTSC monitor,
unstable stills appear when I play the sequence as well. It almost seems like a sync issue, but everything seems to be set and terminated correctly.

I believe the problem lies in the YRB playback and capture settings.

Can anyone give me the definitive project set-up for capture/playback and render settings when most of my work is BetaSP?

    Thanks.

    Hi Gary,

with Sp you use Yuv in/out and 422 connection right? Best quality is component 10bit uncompressed. This should be your settings in FCP apart from the magic 7 frames delay over firewire. Sony 422 control, in out component yuv 10bit uncompressed. Now what deck do you use? I suppose a sony BVW something and how is it connected? What problem exactly is it you have in the outgoing signal? What shows your Monitor? Is the Monitor directly connected with AjA out or is the Monitor connected with BetaSP out, or do you have both options? Tell me. Check signals first. Computer – Aja – Sp.

YUV in/out playback/record is what I have showing in my settings. 422 connection is correct. I work in 8-bit uncompressed-SD quality is fine for what I work on. I use a PVW 2800, UVW 1800 and a DSR 45.
The canvas, as much as I can tell, jumps as the monitor does. The problem looks like sync-but I don’t think that’s what it is.

The setup is : Computer-AJA-composite out to a DA-to waveform(magni)-then to the monitor.

Okay, signal seems all right. Next question: which firmware AJa are you on? Do you have a blackburst signal? Which OSX version? Try to connect Monitor directly with Aja. It could be a sync problem because I don’t know whether PVW 2800, UVW 1800 have a buildt in TBC ? At the beginning I’ve had sync problems (Aja needed at that point a blackburst signal) but the result was sound/picture delays, no jumpy pictures. But the new firmware together with OSX 3.8 works great. (don’t install 3.9!) I didn’t install the brandnew control software of Aja, because I don’t need it. Try following setup: Use composite out Aja as a blackburst signal for one of your Betas (It works most times) Beta must be switched on ext. sync. Monitor should be fine on int. sync. Then check again. At the end you know at least whether it’s a sync problem or not.
Try step by step an you’ll find your problem and you’ll learn a lot about your system you work with.
