    Good day.

Problem: When I attempt to “edit to tape”, my output video signal in the edit viewer is distorted and comes across as two vertical bands of broken lines and won’t edit. It seems to “print to to tape” OK though. However, I want to do a video insert edit.

In the timeline – when I’ve closed the viewer (in frustration) – the video and output seem fine. I’ve checked my capture and output settings, to ensure they are the same.

I haven’t had this in the past. What am I overlooking?

    Cheers,

Are you trying to edit with a FireWire control?

You can only INSERT on a deck with that function (some decks don’t have “insert” mode) and it must be under RS422 control from FCP (not FW).

I’m using the Kona 2 card. Up until the day before yesterday, there was no problem, but now… I quit early yesterday, because I was so frustrated. I’m at it again this morning… When I play the timeline – no problem. When I “print to tape” no problem. It’s when I want to insert edit and use the record canvas to control the deck and set the in and outs, the output is garbled and everything grinds to a halt.

    Hmmmm.
