My boss has this job where he imported a bunch of quicktime files and on the layoff process, the levels are EVERYWHERE! Why he didn’t calibrate on input is beyond me… but my question is.. what is the correct way to output a fully calibrated sequence when you only want to correct half of it? We are using Avid Media Composer Adrenaline.

Thanks. Sorry if this is an odd question.

What do you mean by ‘fully calibrated’? Are you looking at the levels on an external scope or the internal scopes?

Using your color correction tool, you can go in and correct individual shots, or in the case of graphics you may be able to adjust the level using the effects level tool. That’s not the ideal way to do it, but it’s the quickest.

    Does this help?

tell your boss to do the other half?
    😉
If each shot doesn’t need color correction… just has to be legal, you can throw a color effect as filler over your entire sequence and it’ll squish the peak levels to 100ire. It will wash things out in extreme cases but is prolly the quick fix your lookin for.
